The Centro Historica in Mexico City
We spent well over a day just wandering around the Centro Historica and still didn't get to see everything. This is the historical core of the city and is centred around the Zocalo square. There are lots of elegrant buildings and colonial architecture, and every now and again a modern skyscraper. Keep your eyes peeled for the blue and white tiled exterior of the Casa de Azuljeros.

Check out the Metropolitan Cathedral
Come to the Metropolitan Cathedral. It is right next to the main square and was completed in 1813. The cathedral actually stands on the sight of a much older church from the early 16th century. It is actually one of the biggest relgious buildings standing in the Western Hemisphere and its two towers are more than 60 metres in height. There are no less than fourteen chapels here.

Around Mexico City - the Torre Mayor
The city has some very stylish modern buildings and the Torre Mayor is one of the latest skyscrapers to appear on its skyline. It arrived in 2003 and has been the tallest skyscraper in Mexico and Latin America ever since - very beautiful and 225 metres high. You can go to the top for some unforgettable views, but don't worry, you don't need to take the stairs, unless you're extremely fit, or a little mad! We took the lift.
